Namutebi, Mariam – Researcher (Transitional Justice)
Namutebi Mariam obtained her bachelor’s degree in Law from Makerere University and is completing her diploma in legal practice from the institute of Legal Practice and Development in Rwanda. She has extensive knowledge on international and national human rights; with a particular focus on women, children, and the prevention of torture and inhumane and degrading treatment. Her work with GAPS is focused on strengthening prevention and transitional justice mechanisms to promote peace and reconciliation. Her more recent interests include early warning and effective response and traditional justice mechanisms’ role in Uganda’s transitional justice process.
Shams, Shoghi – Multi Media Specialist
Shoghi Shams is an up and coming artist who serves as the Multi Media Specialist at GAPS. He has documented past GAPS events and training sessions and is currently shooting, directing, and editing a Multi Media documentary on the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region’s Genocide Prevention Program. Shoghi is also a talented photographer who continues to capture Uganda from a unique perspective. He has experience using film editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Lightroom and has produced content published on MTL Blog and Vice Noisey. As independent projects, he filmed, edited, directed and produced two short films, available for viewing on his website The Shoghi Shams Blog.
