Vision: Sustainable peace in Uganda.
We envision a world in which every human being indiscriminately enjoys an accountable government, a peaceful society, sustainable and predictable conditions in their daily lives, and equal access to justice and education; where apathy is exceptional and tolerance is replaced with valuing and embracing difference.
Mission: Mainstream and strengthen preventative mechanisms and tools to increase local and national resilience to societal pressure and capacities to manage conflict peaceably.
GAPS is a non-profit organization based in Kampala developing a culture of prevention. We work indiscriminately with actors across sectors and geographical locations in Uganda to mainstream non-violent preventative approaches to conflict management. GAPS focuses on building preventative capacities in the areas of governance, security, peacebuilding, and transitional justice to effectively address and peacefully manage past, existing, and future grievances and conflicting interests. We distinguish ourselves by proactively engaging the disengaged in addition to active agents of change to develop sustainable and comprehensive mechanisms and solutions. We are part of a vibrant community of local, regional, and international actors developing a movement to promote human dignity through the advancement and application of preventative tools and mechanisms.
